Collection: James E Hartzell

James Eric Hartzell holds a BFA in Illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design (2009) and draws from a diverse range of influences ignited by urban and rural experiences to fuel his artistic journey. The artist has an obsession with typography, nature, hand-painted signs and vintage poster art; all of which deeply informs his creative process. 

James immersed himself in the local arts scene since moving from Atlanta, GA to St. Petersburg, FL in 2015, making a career from commercial sign painting and contributing to mural projects that align with his dedication to community transformation and unity. When not making art you can find him leading guided mural tours with FL CraftArt Gallery, cheering on the Tampa Bay Rowdies, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, dancing with his beautiful wife and muse Faith or chilling out in the garden with his beloved tree-climbing cat.
